The Sun Journal is Soluveli’s home for clear explanations about your skin and the sun. You should be able to find an answer and check what that answer is based on.
Starting with a clear question
What does SPF mean? Why is UVA protection important? How often should you reapply? We begin with questions that help you make sun protection part of your own routine. We explain terminology and bring the main points together.
Sources you can read for yourself
For health information, we use scientific publications and information from health organisations such as the WHO, the Dutch RIVM and KWF, and the American Academy of Dermatology. For product regulations, we refer to official European sources.
Each link appears alongside the explanation it supports. Sources are also collected at the end of an article. We describe research within its limits: who was studied, what was measured and what can be inferred? One finding is not a promise for everyone.
Who is behind the explanations
Thomas is a doctor and the founder of Soluveli. Each article names its author. The Sun Journal is published by Soluveli, the brand developing facial sunscreen. This connection is part of the context in which you read our articles.
Research and our formula
We distinguish between knowledge about sun protection in general and Soluveli’s properties. The studies we discuss were not carried out with Soluveli. Our formula is still in development.
SPF 50+, broad-spectrum protection and a matte, invisible finish are development goals. Final product claims must be supported by research on the finished formula. Read how we approach safety and evidence.
Updates and corrections
Each article shows its publication date. If we update the content, we also state when this happened. An older publication can still be relevant; the quality and applicability of the source matter too.

General explanations, with room for your situation
The articles provide general information. For a skin condition, a healing wound or questions about treatment, advice from your own healthcare professional is important. Sunscreen is part of sun protection alongside clothing and shade; it is not a reason to stay in the sun longer.
